12th Conference on Coal Mine Subsidence,
25 – 27 May 2025

We are pleased to announce the 12th conference of the Mine Subsidence Technological Society, to be held Sunday 25th to Tuesday 27th May 2025. Please put these dates in your calendar.
Call for Papers
We encourage attendees to prepare a paper on the conference theme: Building on Our Legacy or any interesting case studies or recent developments in mine subsidence. All papers will be considered for inclusion based on relevance and number of papers submitted. They will be peer-reviewed, printed in Hard copy for collection at registraction, and available online for download after the conference.
Venue
The conference will be held at Voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley, at 336 Oakey Creek Road, Pokolbin, NSW (https://maps.app.goo.gl/VZMtSEagKQWhKKK17). See details of this venue at https://huntervalley.vocohotels.com/.
The conference program will include the following:
- Sunday 25th, 6pm to 8pm – Pre-Conference Reception approximately 6pm to 8pm
- Monday 26th – morning and afternoon presentation sessions
- Monday evening 26th – Conference Dinner
- Tuesday morning 27th – morning and afternoon presentation sessions
Registrations and accommodation will be available soon via a dedicated online booking system.
Further details concerning the conference will be provided in future emails that will be issued closer to the conference date and will be updated on our website.

Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts should be received before 29th November 2024. Acceptance of abstracts will be issued about one week after the submission deadline.
Final papers are due by 25th March 2025 to allow sufficient time for the conference proceedings to be compiled and printed.
A template with the format for the submission of papers will be made available soon.
Abstracts should be limited to one page only, should clearly state the proposed paper title and should include a very brief description of the paper.
The preferred method of submission of the abstract is as an email attachment to papers@msts.org.au in *.doc or *.pdf format. On the subject line of the email please indicate MSTS Abstract – (Presenting author’s or authors’ name) and please also name your attached abstract file as MSTS Abstract – (Presenting author’s or authors’ name).doc or *.pdf. Within the abstract please provide:
- Title of paper
- Name(s) of authors
- Name of presenting author or key contact
- Institution
- Address
- Contact phone numbers
- Email address
